Eating Up Manhattan

February Food Events & Our New Series

Okay, we’ve made it through January and we’re ready for some cocktails! Did anyone get through January fully dry? We have to admit, we did have 2 (planned) cheat days, but overall we feel great after this month and are excited for what’s to come this year!

WE’RE ‘EATING UP MANHATTAN’

We started this series at the end of 2024, we’ve done 5 episodes so far but now we need your help!

The series is going to feature the whole range of restaurants, from hole-in-the-wall to fine dining. We’re looking for amazing places that often get overlooked on social media; the neighborhood staples, hidden gems or just all around amazing restaurants that can’t be ignored… or maybe they’ve been around just long enough to no longer get any media coverage and sit in that weird in-between zone of being loved by the locals and regulars but not really on the wider radar when perhaps they should be.

The series is loosely inspired by ‘Walking Manhattan Sideways’ as well as our previous series ‘Eating Along the 7 Train.’

We kicked things off at The Dead Rabbit and are working our way up a couple blocks at a time! If you have a place we should feature reply to this email or send us a DM with the info.

Each month we have a special highlight, whether it’s a restaurant, chef or some behind-the-scenes content.

SPOTLIGHT: Pinch Chinese

177 Prince St. Soho, NYC

Who doesn’t love a soup dumpling?! These ones are potentially the best in the city and we had to give them a shout out.

Come here for the classic pork XLB and pleasantly sweet crab ones. Both are delicate with lovely bursts of bite sized flavor and especially warming in these cold months.

If you prefer bigger, super fatty soup dumplings this might not be your pick and are probably better off going somewhere like Shanghai Your Garden. If you’re like us, you’d be happy with either!

There’s plenty more on the menu to get excited about like the Peking Duck or their 3 day marinated chicken! They also have a solid wine program.

Industry Interviews & featured experts.

Our first Industry Interview of 2025 had us catching up with none other than the creator of The Cronut, legendary pastry chef Dominique Ansel!

Episode will be live mid February on @EatingwithExperts, if you want to see some of his favorite restaurants in New York.

The best events to attend in NYC & beyond.

February 2025

As the year ramps up, so do the food events. LOTS more coming your way. We’re even thinking of hosting some of our own! TBC

Opening we’re excited about.

  • Sinsa: East Village — Korean dishes with global influences. Helmed by a chef with a Michelin-starred background.

  • Shmuck: East Village — A new bar described as a European style bar with Middle Eastern touches.

  • Bar Snack: East Village — Their slogan ‘Dressed-up classics for dressed-down people’ says it all. Quality cocktails in a laid back atmosphere and surprisingly good Guinness too.

  • Maxi’s Noodle 3: Chinatown — The iconic Hong Kong style noodles by Maxi opens her first location in Manhattan.

  • Peking House: Chinatown — One of our favorite fried chicken spots ever is now available in Manhattan!

  • Giveaways and more!

You know we will travel for food & our next destination is.. Miami!
